Nigel paints large landscapes in oil on canvas. His work is recognisable and typified by its expressive use of composition, colour and brushstroke, boldly describing varied Southland, Lakes District, and Central Otago locations.

In ‘Orchards’, an ongoing series, the artist observes the effects of sunlight on orchard trees and interprets colour patterns and contrasts of light in semi-abstract format.
